❓ What is IVS?

One of the Largest Startup Events in Japan IVS, Japan's oldest startup event, started in 2007. The 2023 event will be held at Miyako Messe, Kyoto on June 28-30, and will be the largest IVS to date.

Our mission: “Be the catalyst for the next generation.” With so many conferences out there, our mission is to “be the catalyst for the next generation.” We are here to continue to create the next generation and have set our VISION to be not only Japan’s, but Asia’s No.1 Startup Platform.

We are aiming for further growth of the startup ecosystem, and hope to “bring the heat” during this three-day event.

👀 Our greatest challenge: IVS2023 KYOTO

The most significant turning point in IVS history In the over 15 years of IVS, Kyoto will be our biggest challenge - we are opening IVS to a wide range of participants. Previous iterations were “invitation-only” for Internet-related company executives and investors.

We aim to utilize the benefits of this expanded talent pool to create a broader future. The specifics are explained below.

Two simultaneous IVS events; PRO BASE and NEXT CITY In Kyoto, the event will be divided into two zones according to participant demographics. The PRO BASE zone is for managers, investors, and business executives. This zone is a continuation of past IVS events.

The “NEXT CITY” zone is a new initiative. It is for people aiming to start a business, people interested in startups, engineers, and everyone else.

IVS CRYPTO located in each zone!

There are both IVS and IVS CRYPTO areas in each zone. Although separate technologies, participants are free to travel between the areas. In principle, the crypto area will be held in English only. After the excitement generated by IVS CRYPTO at the last event in Naha, crypto technology is here to stay.

Players from all over the world will gather at IVS CRYPTO in Kyoto.

2 Zones x 2 Areas. Choose the IVS for you

Entry to the PRO BASE zone is screened, with entry restricted to entrepreneurs, managers, investors, and business executives. The focus is on concrete solutions for management acceleration.

The NEXT CITY zone is going to be the center of attention. There will be a wide range of participants, ranging from engineers to operations people. The focus, however, is clear:

• Increase the number of people who want to start new businesses

• Discover attractive startups and increase interest in them

• Discover the challenges and lead new businesses to success.

We challenge ourselves to create an open IVS focused on these issues.

We will take concrete actions to foster the next generation with the Japanese government's “Five-Year Startup Development Plan” in mind.

NEXT CITY is the zone where participants can discover the social issues that need to be addressed. We aim to spend the three days contemplating the future together, and to use this zone as a starting point for the creation of new businesses and meeting new friends.

IVS Volunteer Staff Culture and Community

For over 15 years, IVS has been supported by a large volunteer staff. Many are young people who aspire to become entrepreneurs or investors in startups. They use this opportunity to interact with and learn from the experienced staff members. Numerous former staffers have launched startups and grown them into large enterprises - even becoming investors themselves. You will also find many of these alumni and alumnae at the event.

Our guests often say that the volunteers are most outstanding part of IVS. We have carefully nurtured a staff culture that is highly motivated to grow the startup community. Many former volunteers, including our CEO Shimakawa, have gone on to careers with IVS, others choose to continue volunteering at IVS events.

🕹️  What will you do?

Supporting Content and Communication Our Planning Team plan and edit the event content in advance. We are looking for volunteers to work with the Planning Team during the three days of the event to contribute to the success of IVS. Their main responsibilities will be to support the running of sessions and workshops as well as guest communications. You will also provide support to the media and operations headquarters. By bringing together highly motivated staff, we will realize our mission to “Be the catalyst for the next generation.”
